About CRPF

The Central Reserve Police Force was formed as Crown Representative's Police on the 27th July 1939. It was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force on the passing of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has finished the 82 years of history of the force with a glorious. The Force has evolved into a vast organization comprising more than 246 Bns, (including the 203 executive Bns and five VIP Security Bns, 6 Mahila Bns, 15 RAF Bns, 10 CoBRA Bns, 2005 Signal Bns , 01 Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres, 22 Group Centres 22 Institutions CWS. 03 CWS. 07 AWS 03 SWS 04 Composite Hospitals of 100 beds, 18 composite Hospitals with 50 beds, as well as the Field Hospitals of 06.

The objective of the Central Reserve Police Force shall serve to assist the government to ensure the Rule of Law, Public Order and Internal Security effectively and efficiently , and to safeguard our nation's integrity and encourage social Harmony and Development by respecting the absolute power of the Constitution.

The Central Reserve Police Force was formed by the Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It was transformed into an official part of the Central Reserve Police Force on the passing of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It is now celebrating an 82-year period of glory in its period of. The Force has grown to become an enormous force, boasting two-thirds of the Bns, (including an executive Bn of the 208th as well as 6 Mahila Bns 15 RAF Bns, 10 , CoBRA Bns and five Signal Bns in addition to One Special Duty Group, 1 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres with 20 Training Institutions 3 CWS 7 AWS 2 SWS 1 MWS, 4 Composite Hospitals which are 100-bedded and 17 Composite Hospitals that have 50 bedded.

Mission

The primary purpose of this Central Reserve Police Force shall be to assist the government to maintain Rule of Law, Public Order and Internal Security efficiently and effectively and to ensure the integrity of the nation as well as encourage Social Harmony and Development by maintaining the supremacy of Constitution.

What is the full form of CRPF?

The main duties of the CRPF include:

  • Control of crowds
  • Control of the Riot
  • Counter-Militancy and Insurgency Operations.
  • Handling Left Wing Extremism
  • All-encompassing coordination of large-scale security arrangements, in particular with regard to elections in unstable zones.
  • Fighting off enemies in the event of War.
  • Participating in UN Peace Keeping Mission as per Govt. policy.
  • Rescue and Relief operations at the time of Natural Calamities and disasters.

Organizational Set-up of the Force

Headquarters of the Force The Hqrs Central Reserve Police Force is located in Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The CGO Complex is headed by Director General who is assisted by three Addl. Directors General , 9 Inspectors General of Police, a Financial Adviser and Director (Medical). The structure is as follows :

Directorate General

Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is located under the supervision of lG (Adm). They are supported by DIG (Adm) in addition to DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the supervision of lG (Pers). He is assisted with the assistance with the help of DIG (Pers), DIG (CR and Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is functioning under the supervision of IG(Training). He is assisted by DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

This Operations Directorate is functioning under the general supervision by IG (OPS). The Directorate is supported by DIG (OPS-I) as well as DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate is working under the overall supervision from IG (Provisioning). The Directorate is supported by DIG (Prov) (Mod and Ord) and DIG (Mod & ord), DIG(MT), Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is looking after Communication Dte. Communication Dte. He is supported by DIG (Eqpt ) and DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate operates under the supervision is the responsibility of IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch operates under the supervision by IG(Estt.). The IG(Estt.) is aided by the support of DIG(Law) in conjunction with DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is operated in the direction of Direct Supervision by the FA. It is closely assisted by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the overall supervision of the IG Director (Medical). He is assisted by two Dy. Director (Medical).

The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is India's biggest Central Armed Police Force. It is under the supervision that is that of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The main role of the CRPF is helping the State/Union territory with the police-related functions that guarantee the peace and stability as well as combat insurgency. It was founded by virtue of being an official part of the Crown Representative's Police on 27 July 1939. In the aftermath of Indian Independence, it changed its name to its own Central Reserve Police Force on the enactment of CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

In addition to law-and-order and counter-insurgency tasks and counter-insurgency and counter-insurgency, it is also counter-insurgency. CRPF has played a significant part in the general elections of India. This is particularly true in the state that was previously Jammu as well Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, due to the presence of violent and sometimes unrest conflicts. In the elections for the legislature of September 1999, the CRPF had a prominent role as an army of security. In recent times, CRPF contingents are also being assigned to UN missions.
